Moxibustion (or moxa) is a technique involving the burning of the herb Mugwort or Artemesia or Ai Ye in Chinese.
It is either burnt indirectly in the form of long sticks held close to the skin or chopped into small pieces and burnt either on the acupuncture or on the skin shielded in boxes etc..
It has the property of being a strong blood moving herb by nature and so is appropriate for promoting blood circulation. Due to it’s warming nature it is also effective in warming the body from the outside, in and can therefor be used to benefit chronic weak conditions and symptoms worse for the cold.
